Our whole life we’re in the chase of something…love, money, career, experiences, etc. Trying to find that little something that we may feel like we’re missing. Being fairly sure that once we find it, once we reach it and grasp it and hold it, we will feel good. And yes, it more than likely brings a temporary satisfaction. But this feeling eventually warns out, making us feel incomplete, empty, in need of something, so we set on a new chase. Searching, finding, filling up the cup, indulging in it until it’s empty again…
Does it mean that we cannot find real happiness? Does it mean that there’s nothing like a true fulfilment?
No, it means that what we’re chasing is not what we’re actually looking for. All these temporary satisfactions have the same but much bigger dominator. Comfort, satisfaction, safety, stability, feeling loved, all those feelings are only stepping stones towards inner peace.
That’s why it is so difficult to keep holding of that feeling of happiness and fulfilment. That’s why it never lasts and we’re in never ending cycle of a chase. Chase of something that we’re not realising is peace.
But peace is nothing to be chased because it cannot be found on the outside. Peace is something to choose. Through daily reactions and actions, through ongoing compassion and self-compassion, through lasting forgiveness that goes both ways, to the outer and inner world.
Choosing where, with whom and to what depth we’re going to be and interact. Choosing where, how and to what extent we’re going to give our energy to.
Life is not a chase. It is a choice between peace and tension ❤️🍀.
